Coronavirus: MTV Postpones Movie and TV Awards Indefinitely

MTV indefinitely postpones the Movie and TV awards.

As the world is slowly relaxing social distancing rules and regulations, the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic is still impacting millions around the world. Consequently, various events are canceled or postponed including award ceremonies. Earlier last month, Variety reported the Academy Awards are considering postponing the 2021 ceremony. Now, Variety reports MTV has decided to indefinitely delay the Movie and TV awards.

With no set date for the show this year, its organizers were planning to the awards sometime between June and December. However, COVID-19 threw a hammer into those plans, causing MTV to postpone the show indefinitely.  In relevant news, MTV announced plans to air the Video Awards at the Barclays Center in in August. “We're exploring with government officials, the medical community, and key stakeholders on how to safely hold the 2020 at Barclays Center on August 30th,” said an MTV spokesperson. “The health of everyone involved is our number one priority. Additionally, we are working on several contingency plans to bring music's biggest night to audiences everywhere.”

In relevant news, two projects scheduled to film in Georgia this June are pushed back until mid-September due to the Coronavirus.
