<h2>Business is booming in Pinewood Atlanta Studios.</h2>
According to reports, Pinewood Atlanta Studios co-owner Dan Cathy announced at an African American Film Critics Association luncheon earlier this week; the studio is hosting the largest production budget ever.

From <a href="http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2017/03/01/dan-cathy-pinewood-atlanta-studios-hosting.html">Biz Journal</a>:
<blockquote>"We now have on the lot down there now the largest film production ever with a $1 billion budget," Cathy said,.

"We're also building the world's first community designed for creatives," Cathy said. "We'll be the first community with a resident graffiti artist. We're actually to apply for a license for a tattoo parlor."</blockquote>
Nearly half of all of the TV shows and movies filming in Atlanta, Georgia are filming at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. In fact, all 18 stages are currently at capacity.

"The future really does look exciting with Atlanta," Cathy said.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios Now Has the "Largest Film Production Ever"

There is no doubt that Georgia's film industry is on fire. With over 30 movies and TV shows currently filming throughout the state, and two major Marvel feature films filming outside of Atlanta, the Peach State has become one of the best places to go if you want to join the film industry.

According to a new report by <a href="http://times-herald.com/news/2017/02/pinewood-studios-expanding-to-accommodate-film-industry-in-ga">Times-Herald</a>, Pinewood Studios is looking to expand in order to keep up with the demand.

During a Rotary Club meeting, Brian Cooper, VP of operations at Pinewood Studios, explained that over 3,000 people are expected to visit Pinewood Atlanta Studios every day in 2017. That said, they are looking to bring more vendors onto the property.

When it comes to celebrities, Cooper explains A-listers enjoy the Southern Hospitality. “The talent that comes to Pinewood are very engaging,” Cooper said. “They go out to eat in the area, and there’s not a big swarm of people around them. People let them be people.”

According to Times-Herald, the main reason why Georgia's film industry is growing, outside of the luxurious tax credit, is the resources Pinewood Studios provides on location. Cooper explained that instead of using old warehouses as a movie studio, Pinewood changed the film industry in Georgia by building actual filming facilities. As a result, Pinewood Studios has been operating at 100% for the past four years with a master plan for expansion currently underway.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios is Expanding Thanks to Georgia's Growing Film Industry

<h2>The owners of <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/pinewood-studios/">Pinewood Studios</a> are looking to sell their TV and movie studios.</h2>
According to the Wall Street Journal, the company is up for sale and is looking to sell their production studio up for sale.

<a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/news/how-pinewood-atlanta-studios-is-transforming-georgias-film-industry">Pinewood Studios recently</a> opened their biggest and best facility outside of <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/atlanta">Atlanta</a>, <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/pinewood-atlanta-studios/">Pinewood Studios Atlanta</a>, which is located in Fayetteville, Georgia. Now, the studio is looking to sell the production facilities for up to $500 million.

The owners are reportedly seeking outside funding to <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/news/pinewood-atlanta-studios">continue to expand the business</a>, according to reports. Around 80 percent of the company is owned by only three shareholders.

According to <a href="http://thecitizen.com/news-business/pinewood-studios-puts-itself-sale-highest-bidder">reports</a>, Pinewood had a profitable half-year with an operating profit of about $10.2 million, up from $3.6 million a year earlier, according to the Wall Street Journal. This could be attributed to Atlanta's growing film industry.

Recently, Pinewood Atlanta Studios built and designed state of the art production facilities and have unofficially become the headquarters for new Marvel productions, with several future Marvel films already scheduled to be produced in the ATL.

The Fayette Studios started construction in 2013. Now, Pinewood Atlanta Studios features 11 sound stages and is the home to the upcoming <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/guardians-of-the-galaxy-2/">Guardians of the Galaxy 2</a> movie starring Chris Pratt.



Apparently, business is good for Pinewood Atlanta studios. According to a press release on the Pinewood Studios website posted Feb. 10:

“Since the publication of the Interim Results on 1 December 2015, film revenues have benefited from a robust growth in ancillary sales whilst also continuing to operate at high stage utilisation levels.

“Television revenues have performed well in the second half of this financial year.

“Media Hub revenues have also performed strongly as a result of high occupancy.

“The company has continued to develop its international revenues, with strong growth from its joint venture in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Media Investment revenues, as anticipated, have grown in the second half of this financial year.”
<h3>But it begs the question: why is Pinewood Studios selling a profitable business?</h3>
But it begs the question: why is Pinewood Studios selling a profitable business? It sounds like they are interested in making more money by creating their own content:
“Since the publication of the Interim Results on 1 December 2015, film revenues have benefited from a robust growth in ancillary sales whilst also continuing to operate at high stage utilisation levels.
In addition, news reports suggest that Pinewood Studios is looking to create their own content. “The news comes as Pinewood has enjoyed strong revenues for its production facilities, thanks to the likes of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Spectre” [the new James Bond movie]. The company has, however, long sought to leverage its bricks and mortar infrastructure to get more control of IP and upside in the actual content produced in its facilities,” according to an entertainment business website, Deadline.com.

From the company’s news release: “The board believes that the company, as the world leading studio and production services operator, has significant future growth potential.

“The objectives of last year’s share placing, which was successfully completed on 17 April 2015, were to raise proceeds of £30m [a little over $43 million] to part fund phase one of the ... development [plan] and also to create a more diversified shareholder base that would be able to support the company through subsequent phases of growth and enable the company to move up to a full listing on the main market.

“The shareholder register, however, remains tightly held, which has continued to stifle liquidity in the shares and has prevented the company from achieving its aim of obtaining a main market listing.

“The board has now determined that it is appropriate to evaluate alternative opportunities to maximise value for the company’s shareholders and to build on Pinewood’s successes to date. We believe there is a requirement for a funding strategy to be in place to fully realise the company’s future potential (for instance to fund [development plan] phases two and three). Accordingly, Rothschild [investment bank] has been appointed to assist with a strategic review of the overall capital base and structure, which could include a sale of the company."

However, the CEO of Pinewood Studios, Ivan Dunleavy says the future looks good for Pinewood Atlanta Studios: “As we come close to the end of the financial year, the benefits of our long-term strategy for the business are again being realised. The company continues to experience strong demand for its facilities and services as we look forward to the new financial year.”



This news comes after reports suggested that Pinewood Studios planned on increasing the size of their Atlanta studios. <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/news/pinewood-atlanta-studios">Pinewood Atlanta Studios</a> is adding five new soundstages as part of Phase 2 of the Pinewood Studios project. Construction is start in the next few weeks. One of the building will house two 20,000 sq. ft soundstages and 20,000 sq.  ft. of office space. A second building will also house a soundstage with 30,000 sq. ft.

In addition, Pinewood Studios announced they were planning on creating new and original content. According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter, <a class="" href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/pinewood-tv-drama-production-venture-859283">Pinewood Studios</a> is teaming up with StoryFirst PST, a US owned media company, and will focus on “creating, developing and financing quality TV drama for the international market.” Now the company is developing and arranging long-term external financing from a group of investors and banks to invest directly into its company.

The film studio has 11 sound stages, 400,000 sq ft. of <a href="http://www.pinewoodgroup.com/our-studios/usa/pinewood-atlanta-studios/production-accommodation" rel="nofollow">workshop, office and production support facilities</a>, a backlot including rivers, forests, and open areas for filming, and an onsite media hub. Therefore, making Pinewood Atlanta Studios a one-stop-shop for filmmakers.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios has become so influential in drawing major films that Marvel has basically called Atlanta the filmmaking capital of all of their future movies. As Project Casting reported Marvel's <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/tag/ant-man/">Ant-Man</a> and <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/captain-america-civil-war/">Captain America: Civil War</a>, both filmed in Pinewood Atlanta Studios. And Marvel's <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/guardians-of-the-galaxy-2/">Guardians of the Galaxy 2</a> and <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/thor-ragnarok/">Thor: Ragnarok</a> will also film Atlanta, Georgia.

But, Pinewood Atlanta Studios is not stopping there. According to the <a href="http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2015/05/20/pinewood-atlanta-studios-could-be-home-to-georgia.html" target="_blank">Atlanta Business Chronicle</a>, there are reports that the Georgia Film Academy, a government sponsored education program to increase the number of talented crew members in Georgia, will be housed in the newly constructed Pinewood Atlanta Studios.
<blockquote>Last week, Pinewood Atlanta Studios architect Bill Foley told the Fayetteville City Council the academy would be located in the Pinewood Production Centre, across the street from the 288-acre studio complex where "Captain America 3: Civil War" is reportedly filming now.

Foley said the academy would open this summer and the program would begin with 50 students.
Pinewood developer Jim Pace said the studio has been working with film academy organizers for the past two years, and they have indicated they plan to be located at Pinewood. Pinewood is currently in the process of drafting a Letter of Intent with the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents.</blockquote>
Pinewood Atlanta Studios is only going to continue to grow. According to announcement by the Pinewood Group, there was a spike in profits "driven by the newly operational Pinewood Atlanta Studios." In fact, In the year ending March 2015, Pinewood Atlanta Studios made $9.1 million in revenue and recorded a profit of about $2 million.

Foxx said he can’t wait to show a different side of the boxing champ.“We want to show everybody evolves, everybody comes from a good or bad place. I think everybody, young and old, will be able to understand this man’s journey.”
To get into character, Jamie Foxx has started a daily work out which includes 60 pull ups, 60 dis, and 100 pushups. “What we’re doing is, we’re changing the body,” Foxx said while showing photos of his bulked up body.  He added technology will be used to help him fully transform into Mike Tyson.

Jamie Foxx Mike Tyson Biopic is Officially Moving Forward

<h2><a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/pinewood-atlanta-studios/">Pinewood Atlanta Studios</a> has revealed plans for a 220,00 square-foot expansion, which will be completed in the spring of 2022.</h2>
Pinewood Atlanta announced the expansion on Thursday. The expansion includes a creative center, a four-story building to house content and tech companies. It will include a co-working space where businesses can meet, as well as private office spaces ranging from 1,800 to 14,600 square feet.

“We are creating a place with abundant resources, where everyone, from filmmaking icons to first-time makers, feels that anything they imagine is possible to produce here,” said Frank Patterson, president and CEO of Pinewood Atlanta Studios. “Reactions from our current and prospective partners on the lot have been amazing, and we’re excited about how this next phase of development will help shape the future of the entertainment industry.”

According to <a href="https://variety.com/2020/film/news/pinewood-atlanta-avengers-endgame-expansion-2022-1203530998/?fbclid=IwAR12hZoRIPL9cUZ4S2zEYJdnFIy8E7W7iWo9gYYTcd9PYFXN6S2-c2WpIsY">Variety</a>, the current facility is a representation of $150 million in investments. The expansion will be an additional $65 million to $70 million.

So far, Technicolor, The Third Floor and MBSi have claimed spaces in the newly created creative office center.

Third Floor has plans to expand its place in Atlanta’s film industry with virtual production technology.

“One of the first lessons we learned from supporting the most ambitious productions, such as Marvel Studios’ ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ is that it takes a village of creative and technical collaborators who are ready to apply their expertise efficiently and at a moment’s notice to support the director’s vision,” said Chris Edwards, co-founder, and CEO. “Pinewood Atlanta Studios’ creative office center encourages providers to synergize and offer end-to-end solutions that will benefit a much broader range of productions.”

Pinewood Atlanta studios have expanded to more than 1 million square feet, 18 sound stages, and a 400-acre backlot. That said, the U.K. based Pinewood Group Limited sold its stake in Pinewood Atlanta to local venture partners, River’s Rock LLC.

Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ both filmed in the Georgia production lot. The six-year-old facility, which is located in south of Atlanta, has 700 acres and more than 50 production-related businesses. The studio’s first movie was “Ant-Man” and the following sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp”.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios Reveals Plans for a Major Expansion

<h2 class="p1">The Pinewood Group has sold its equity in Pinewood Atlanta Studios, the second-largest film and TV production hub in the United States to their joint venture partner in the facility.</h2>
According to Deadline, the joint venture was set up in 2013 between Pinewood and River’s Rock, an independently managed trust of the Cathy family.
Pinewood will continue to provide sales and marketing for the studios for a period of up to 18 months during that period of time operation will remain branded and operated as a Pinewood facility.
The partners say the deal will not have an impact on productions filming at the studios.
Pinewood Atlanta Studios is a 700-acre facility with 18 sound stages ranging from 15,000 to 40,000 square feet and a backlot of 400 acres. Several major motion pictures have filmed there, taking advantage of the production resources and Georgia’s film tax credit. Such movies include Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
President of the facility, Frank Patterson, will continue to lead the studio. According to Pinewood, the decision to part ways comes as Patterson started investing in content companies, while the Pinewood Group is focusing on studios.
A source close to Deadline says the future international deals are coming soon. Pinewood Group has interests in China and the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom.
That being said, Deadline also reports several people may lose their job as a result of the sale.
Pinewood reports that the exit is “not connected in any way” to the recently passed Georgia anti-abortion laws. The legislation has been criticized by Disney and other major studios. 
The production facility has been instrumental for several Marvel Movies, so Pinewood’s exit and the studio’s investment in “content companies” it does put the future of Georgia’s film industry into question.
The Pinewood Group was purchased in 2016 by asset management firm Aermont and is currently expanding their UK Shepperton Studios. Shepperton will become the second-largest studio in the world with an additional 530,000 sq.ft of sound stage space.

As our partners in Atlanta look to expand their focus and invest in content development, we have agreed to sell our equity in the Studios. Pinewood will continue to prioritize its core business of providing studio infrastructure, including extensive growth plans in the UK and expansion in key international markets.”

Pinewood Group Exits Georgia's Film Industry

Kickstarter announced their new Patrons program, which allows for filmmakers to receive money from notable organizations and receive additional production resources. 
One of the significant organizations partnering with the Kickstarter program includes the Pinewood Atlanta Studios, the major studio where <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/black-panther/">Black Panther</a>, <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/guardians-of-the-galaxy-2/">Guardians of the Galaxy 2</a>, and <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/tag/spider-man-homecoming/">Spider-Man: Homecoming </a>have all filmed. 
Pinewood Atlanta Studios is looking to pledge to films whose teams consist of at least one female filmmaker who currently lives in the state of Georgia. The studio is looking for movies "with originality of premise, clarity of narrative, and personal vision," and in addition to cash support, will be offering mentorship and networking opportunities, as well as access to the "Pinewood Atlanta Studios ecosystem of vendors." The studio is launching with $10,000 in funding. 
Pinewood Atlanta Studios is a branch of the world-famous film studios, Pinewood, Shepperton and Pinewood Studios Wales, where hundreds of classic films have been made. Pinewood has been expanding recently with studios in Canada, Malaysia, and the Dominican Republic. In fact, the success of Georgia’s film industry is partly credited to <a href="https://www.projectcasting.com/blog/news/pinewood-atlanta-studios">Pinewood Atlanta Studios fantastic infrastructure, connections, and facilities</a>.

According to the Atlanta station WSB – TV, a construction worker has been killed at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia a few minutes outside of Atlanta.
According to Deadline, Capt. Mike Singleton of the Fayette County Fire Department revealed the worker after falling from a lift. Deadline reports that the 41-year-old male construction worker was helping to build a new warehouse for Pinewood when he fell out of the lift and wasn't wearing a harness.
The Georgia Sheriff's Department said they are waiting for OSHA to get on the scene.
Here’s the statement reported by Deadline from the construction company working at Pinewood Atlanta Studios:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of a subcontractor who was fatally injured in an accident today on a construction site at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. As the project’s general contractor, we promptly informed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. We hope to learn more in the coming days about what caused this tragedy, as safety is our top concern at this and all of our project sites.
</blockquote>
The studio has nearly 20 different soundstages and is located on 700 acres of property resting outside of Atlanta. Currently, several Marvel motion pictures are now filming in Atlanta Georgia at the Pinewood Atlanta Studios location.
