Horror legend Sean S. Cunningham is reportedly bringing back multiple projects, such as reviving the Friday the 13th franchise and House from 1985. In addition to these reboots, he’s producing a new horror film titled The Night Driver alongside writer Jeff Locker and director Jeremy Weiss, according to Bloody Disgusting! In an exclusive interview with the publication, Locker disclosed how collaboration on the reboot materialized.

“Sean hired me to do a rewrite on The Night Driver, and after working closely with director Jeremy Weiss and him on that, we naturally got to talking about Friday the 13th and House.

Jeremy and I pitched our dream reboot of Friday the 13th – with Sean’s blessing to keep developing it with him.”

Locker proclaimed the news about a prequel series for Friday the 13th: Crystal Lake had sparked renewed enthusiasm and curiosity regarding a possible film. “We’re hoping the surrounding excitement will inspire both sides to come together and give us Jason on the big screen again for the first time in 14 years.” Regarding the House reboot, Locker elucidated that it is “both an update and reimagining of the classic series, centering around the birth of a haunted house.”

Boasting 12 movies since 1980, the Friday the 13th franchise was rebooted in 2009 and remains a favorite of horror fans worldwide. No release dates have yet been announced for its prequel or upcoming reboot, but we all eagerly await news!
