Commercial Parkour Tips

Parkour is a great way to get in shape and have fun. Some tips can help beginners master the basics of parkour and start a successful journey in this popular extreme sport.

  • Start small: Begin with simple jumps, rolls, and vaults before attempting more prominent movements like wall runs or flips. It’s important to practice basic activities on soft surfaces so you can build up your strength and coordination before trying more complex skills.
  • Warm-up: Stretching and warming up your muscles before each training session will help reduce the risk of injury. This should include dynamic stretching exercises such as high knees, butt kicks, jumping jacks, etc., which will help prepare your body for higher-intensity movements.
  • Train often: The only way to get better at parkour is to practice regularly. Aim to train 3-5 times a week, but don’t overdo it—listen to your body and take rest days when needed. Incorporating strength and conditioning into your weekly routine is essential to build the necessary muscles for more advanced skills.
  • Find a spotter: When attempting bigger or trickier jumps, having someone there to spot you can help keep you safe and help you land correctly. A spotter can give crucial feedback on how your form looks and encourage you when things get tough.
  • Have fun: Parkour should always be fun. If something is too complicated or feels wrong, take a break and try a different move. Once you become more proficient in the basics, you can challenge yourself further and have even more fun!
