THE RAGING CANAL- OPEN AUDITIONS

Siren Theatre Company has written an immersive play call The Raging Canal with support of the D&H Canal Society

We are looking for someone to play the role of Hank Adams, who's character is based on a true story of a
young Black man from Long Island who falls in love with and runs away with an Irish woman named
Amanda Ayres.

The storyline focuses on the lives of the immigrants and marginalized workers who worked on the canal
and the cultural and racial tensions that existed during around 1870.

The audience will move from room to room and follow the different characters to figure out the entirety of
the story and see the play from the perspective of each character as real people.

SEEKING:

  • Male, Black, Actor
  • Age Range 20's-40's

Hank Adams character is

— romantic, fun, gentle, hardworking, honest, calm, but also passionate. Silly and playful — excited about the prospect of being barge captain, a dreamer, has an optimistic and enthusiastic outlook on life despite having had to work hard and not have made it very far. He's a working class, farmer whose family had come from the south and had strong Baptist morals, so is bothered to not be able to legally marry Amanda and is concerned about the danger he's in due to running away with her.

The potential show dates and times:

  • Friday June 2nd - 7pm
  • Saturday June 3rd - 7pm
  • Sunday June 4th - 7pm
