Job Description:

We are currently seeking talented actors for the upcoming drama film "Ami," written and directed by Hafizul Khan. The film is set to shoot from April 16-21, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL. This project will delve into the emotional and challenging life of Jaffar as he navigates through the complexities of living with and caring for his mentally ill mother.

Roles Available:

1. Ammu (Lead Role)
   • Gender: Female
   • Age Range: 50-60
   • Descent: South Asian
   • Character Description: Ammu is the mother of Jaffar and Ahmed. She suffers from high-functioning schizophrenia, which manifests in her cursing in Bangla during her prayers and experiencing intense mental battles. She imagines herself on a battlefield, using her words as weapons against her perceived enemies. The character is marked by her persistence and stubbornness.
   • Requirements: The actor must be fluent in Bangla as the character frequently speaks it. We are looking for someone who can authentically portray the complexities of mental illness with sensitivity and depth.
   • Scene Involvement: The actor will be required for most of the shooting schedule and will play a central role in the narrative.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the director and fellow actors to bring the character of Ammu to life.
• Participate in rehearsals and script read-throughs prior to and during the shoot.
• Be available for the entire shooting schedule from April 16-21, 2024, and for any additional pick-up shoots if necessary.
• Contribute to the creative process by bringing personal insight and interpretation to the character.

Requirements:

• Proven acting experience, especially in drama.
• Ability to speak Bangla fluently.
• Willingness to work on a tight schedule and collaborate with a diverse team.
• Ability to travel to and stay in Tallahassee, FL, for the duration of the shoot.

Compensation Details:

• Rate of Pay: $125 per day.
• Additional Compensation: 10% on top of the daily rate.
