David Alpert, the CEO of Skybound Entertainment, the production company behind AMC’ s The Walking Dead, is not worried about the declining ratings of their biggest hit show. Despite reports in 2017 showing a major decline in ratings for the series since its second season, Alpert remains pretty optimistic. In an interview with Variety, Alpert says: “I don’t think in any way the brand has lost its relevance in general,” he said. “I think we’re just seeing a decline in urgency across all media to consume something at a specific time.” Alpert argues that it is not really ratings for The Walking Dead that have dropped, it is that more people are watching the show on Netflix or on demand. Alpert is confident about the future of The Walking Dead. “The ability to connect digitally with our fans to find out what they want and serve them content from great creators, media agnostic — it’s not a little idea, it’s a huge idea,” Alpert said. “We could be the media company for the new millennium.” Alpert is pretty spot-on. While the mid-season finale was seen live by 7.8 million viewers, which is the lowest since the second season, once DVR viewership was accounted for more than 12 million people watched the show. Moreover, The Walking Dead was the second most pirated series of 2017 and the second most popular show on iTunes in 2017. All of which is great news for Georgia’s film industry as The Walking Dead films approximately an hour outside of the center of Atlanta and employs hundreds of aspiring actors, filmmakers, producers and crew workers. The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman is teaming up with YouTube star, PewDiePie. The most popular YouTuber on YouTube is growing his empire just little bit more. According to a new report, the millionaire entertainer, PewDiePie, also known as Felix Kjellberg is creating a TV show with the creator of The Walking Dead.  PewDiePie is teaming up with The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, to create a new YouTube series called "Scare PewDiePIe." The YouTube Original, dubbed ‘Scare PewDiePie’, will be a half-reality, half-prank show filled with “thrills, chills and laughter.” The creator and executive producers of The Walking Dead are teaming up with Maker Studios to create horrifying situations based on PewDiePie’s favorite games. Then they’re going to drop him right into these fright zones and record the chaos sure to follow. The 25-year-old millionare is known for making video blogs and "Let's Play" videos where he narrates through gameplay. "Scare PewDiePie" is described as a reality-adventure show which will take Kjellberg "through terrifying real-life situations inspired by his favorite video games." Via the press release: Scare PewDiePie follows Felix throughout the experience, capturing every twist and turn along the way as he scares himself silly with hidden surprises around each corner. The show promises a completely authentic experience as Felix goes into every episode without knowing what he’s in for. The new series comes from Disney's Maker Studios and Robert Kirkman's Skybound Entertainment. "This has been a big year for Skybound and Scare PewDiePie is a huge part of what has made 2015 our biggest year yet. I am excited that we can finally talk about it,” said Kirkman in a press release. “Working with Felix, YouTube and Maker Studios on this venture has been creatively exhilarating and just plain fun. I trust audiences will love the show as much as we loved creating it.” "Scare PewDiePiew" is part of a new revenue stream from YouTube called YouTube Red, a paid service which allows users to access YouTUbe without ads. The program will launch on October 28, and will be available for $9.99 a month. PewDiePie will be one of several YouTube celebrities to launch their own TV shows. He will join The Fine Brothers, Lilly Singh, and College Humor as they unveil their own original projects. There's no set premiere date yet for "Scare PewDiePie." As of right now, it will launch sometime in 2016.
