One casting director is revealing all of the details behind commercials and how actors can land bigger and higher paying acting jobs. Recently, Business Insider spoke with Kate Evans, a casting director with more than 20 years experience. Evans explained that the film industry is extremely difficult to break into. Even after years of acting classes, promising auditions, many aspiring actors are left with their broken dreams of fame and riches. 'Actors can earn up to $30,000 from a single commercial' Fortunately, you don't need to have acting skills to get screen time and earn a huge paycheck from commercials, according to Kate and Lou Casting. Evans explained that being too-well trained can actually hinder your chances of landing a role in a commercial. "Lots of people are trained in theater and drama schools for years, so they act everything. In commercials, they just need to be themselves," she said. Starring in a single commercial, you can earn anywhere between a couple thousand to $30,000. The exact amount "depends on the product, the marketing space, and the media space," Evans said. Celebrities tend to earn more money by endorsing products on ads, but, rather than being cast by casting directors, celebrities are approached directly by ad agencies. "It's my job to get the best out of every single person who walks through my door," Evans said. However, she says that she looks for "street people" - normal people that have not applied for the role. Evans says she searches for new talent in the street or through Twitter. "I constantly spend my time chasing people down the road. I jump off trains and I'm like, 'Please talk to me. I'm a casting director and you've got a great look.' I don't stop working," Evans said. "That’s the best part of my job." Evans also argued that you don't have to be good looking to make $30,000/day. "No, my dad’s not good looking at all, it’s characters," Evans said. "I got my dad to do a Pizza Hut advert.
