Exciting news for the 'Fast X' franchise! Director Louis Leterrier is set to return for the highly anticipated 11th installment of 'Fast and Furious.' Fast X director Louis Leterrier will resume his role in the franchise with this eleventh installment of Fast and Furious. Universal Pictures president Peter Cramer officially announced that Louis Leterrier would take on the role in a statement confirming the news. “Louis joined the ‘Fast & Furious’ team seamlessly, with an innate understanding of the franchise that is stronger than ever after two decades. Under his direction, ‘Fast X’ is a high-intensity thriller with all the spectacular action, emotion, and twists that the fans have come to expect – and then some,” he said. “We are thrilled that he will continue to work his magic in the director’s chair.” After Justin Lin stepped away from the production one week into filming, Louis Leterrier was brought on as the new director of Fast X in May 2022. “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X while remaining with the project as a producer,” Lin previously expressed. “Over ten years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, stunts, and damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history. The series is set to premiere in 2021 on FX on HULU in the United states, and internationally through Disney+. The series was first reported in 2019 and was confirmed by Taika Waititi on Twitter. The initial report announced Waititi would be co-writing the series with Native American filmmaker Sterlin Harjo, who would also share executive producer and directing duties with Waititi. Universal’s Global Talent Development and Inclusion group at Universal Pictures has officially started their brand new Universal Writers Program. Previously known as the Emerging Writers Fellowship, the program is looking for experienced, aspiring and up-and-coming screenwriters with unique points of view that build on the Studio’s commitment to telling stories and creating films that reflect the wide diversity of audiences. “We are a studio committed to discovering unique voices and developing writers on the cusp of breaking through,” said Peter Cramer, President, Production, Universal Pictures.  “Although the breadth of the application process is expanding, these programs are designed to identify game-changing talent.” The program’s focus aims to develop storytellers with the intent of incorporating multicultural and global perspectives in screenwriting. It is the only feature film program approved by the Writers Guild of America West and looks for writers whose voice and talent matches both the Universal Pictures and Focus Features branding and programming. The program has been retooled and has been subject to significant changes when a writer looks at the application process. For example, eligibility requirements include being open to novice and experienced writers. There will also be several changes including a professional script consultation to help writers develop and present material to Universal Pictures and Focus Features development executives. “We’re excited to find the next group of innovative and multicultural and global-minded screenwriters to create content that reflects both our world and Universal’s vast audience,” said Senior Vice President, Global Talent Development & Inclusion Janine Jones-Clark.  “Our intention in allowing experienced writers an opportunity to apply is to encourage writers who have had success in other media to consider a career in features.” The applications are available now through November 6 with the program starting in April 2018. A shocking video shows Disney staff fighting an alligator near Disney's Splash Mountain New details are surfacing following the death of Lane Graves, a two-year old boy who was snatched by an alligator along the shore of the 7 Seas Lagoon at Disney World in Orlando. The boy was dragged into the lagoon and pronounced dead after a 15-hour search turned up his body. The cause of death was drowning and traumatic injuries. Reports have revealed, since the tragic incident, that residents at the nearby Bora Bora Suites, have been feeding the alligators that swim in the lagoon, prompting more and more gators to visit the area. Which many people argue lead to a major alligator problem for the Disney resorts, and the video below shows the seriousness of the issue. In the video, a Disney employee is fighting off an alligator with a pole. What's extremely disturbing about the incident is that the gator is only a few feet away from one of the world's most popular water parks, Splash Mountain. TMZ reports that Disney is applying temporary measures against the gators, including fencing off the 7 Seas Lagoon and erecting signs. Disney is attempting to provide long-term solutions to the alligator infestation issue, but until then, beaches have been closed.
