‘The Flash’ Is Now the Worst Box Office Flop in Superhero Film History

Date:

“The Flash” Breaks Records as Worst Superhero Film Flop in Box Office History.

In a stunning turn of events, “The Flash,” the highly anticipated DC film starring Ezra Miller, has solidified its position as the biggest box office disaster in superhero movie history. Barely three weeks after its release, the film’s abysmal box office performance has shocked industry insiders. With a meager $55 million earnings, “The Flash” has failed to meet even the lowest expectations.

Despite the film’s tumultuous journey, marred by controversies surrounding its lead actor and numerous strategic changes within Warner Bros. and DC, it overcame significant production hurdles and made its way to theaters. However, its debut was disappointing, and the downward spiral continued in the subsequent weeks. The movie suffered a staggering 72.5% decline in box office returns from its lackluster opening weekend, marking the most significant drop in revenue between the first and second week in DC’s cinematic history. With a budget totaling $220 million, accompanied by an additional $150 million allocated for promotional efforts, the financial losses for Warner Bros. are projected to surpass $200 million—a monumental setback for the studio.

In a cruel twist of fate, “The Flash” experienced a further decline in its third week, raking in a meager $5.23 million, bringing the film’s domestic total to a paltry $99 million. The revenue plummeted by 62.5% this week, compounding the film’s disappointing performance. As a result, “The Flash” now surpasses “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” as the costliest superhero film failure, estimated to have incurred losses of $150 million.
