‘Bad Blood’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence: Everything We Know So Far

Date:

Jennifer Lawrence to star as Elizabeth Holmes

The next project from director Adam McKay is a likely adaptation of the Silicon Valley hot mess that was Theranos, and according to The Hollywood Reporter Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as Elizabeth Holmes in the film ‘Bad Blood.’

This may be one of those movies where she has to act with her voice and adopt a deeper Baritone. McKay says that Lawrence is already on the case, and has been working hard to nail down holster Holmes’ particular accent.

The film is based on John Carreyrou’s 2018 nonfiction book ‘Bad Blood,’ about the rise and fall of a Silicon Valley startup that set out to revolutionize blood tests but ended up being convicted for four counts of wire fraud.

This will be their first portrayal in film form; though two podcasts have brought this story memorably alive – “The Dropout” by WNYC Studios which featured protagonist Elizabeth Holmes as well as an Alex Gibney docu-drama called ‘The Inventor’.

About Bad Blood:

Bad Blood is a 2018 book by journalist John Carreyrou about the rise and fall of Theranos, a privately-held blood test development company founded in 2003 by then-19-year-old Elizabeth Holmes. The book was released on May 21, 2018, by Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. It debuted at number one on The New York Times Non-Fiction Best Seller list.

Theranos was once a Silicon Valley startup with a $9 billion valuation, and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes, was hailed as the “next Steve Jobs.”

But it all came crashing down when Carreyrou revealed in The Wall Street Journal that the company’s technology didn’t work and that Holmes had lied to investors, customers, and the media.

While we all know about the plot and who is top billing the movie, little detail has leaked to fans so stay tuned to Project Casting for the ‘Bad Blood’ premiere date.
