‘Aladdin’ Live-Action Sequel Coming Soon

Aladdin is coming soon by Disney.

After making over $1 billion worldwide last year, Disney's remake of “Aladdin” is getting a sequel. According to TheWrap, the sequel will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Ehrich of Rideback, who produced the -action starring Mena Massoud as Aladdin and as the Genie.

The latest film released Memorial Day weekend grossed $355 million domestically and $1.05 billion worldwide. “Aladdin” was one of the biggest movies released by Disney in 2019.

At this moment, it is unknown whether director will return for the sequel. The script will be a new story written by John Gatins and Andrea Berloff. Gatins previously wrote the movie “Flight,” and most recently worked on Lionsgate's 2018 movie “Power Rangers.”

Andrea Berloff received an Oscar nomination as the co-writer of “Straight Outta Compton,”. Berloff most recently made her directorial debut with last summer's crime film “The Kitchen,” which she also wrote.

Since 2010, Disney has remade their classic animated in live-action and CGI form have been very lucrative since “Alice in Wonderland.” Four of those remakes have made over $1 billion worldwide.
