Stranger Things is one of the biggest TV shows still filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Meanwhile, Georgia’s film industry is facing a boycott following the election of Brian Kemp as governor. Kemp, who served as the Secretary of State and oversaw the election, has been accused of voter suppression leading up to the election. Some of Hollywood’s biggest influencers, actors, models, and talent are calling for a boycott of Georgia’s booming film industry. For example, Frank Rich, the executive producer of HBO’s VEEP, said, “If Kemp wins in Georgia, Hollywood should put its money where its mouth is and pull all production out of the state,” Rich tweeted.

Understanding Georgia Film Tax Credit:
A state tax credit was signed into law in 2008 giving productions up to a 30 percent tax break by filming in Georgia. This incentive was enough to convince Hollywood producers to film in Georgia.
Big productions such as The Hunger Games, The Walking Dead and Divergent helped boost Georgia’s film industry. In fact, small cities are now being used as filming locations. Producers are searching and finding small towns across Georgia to film their TV shows. The small town of Senoia, Georgia has transformed since The Walking Dead set up location in the small town.

According to Deadline, “Ambitions (working title) is a multigenerational family saga centered around one woman who, having recently relocated and intent on revitalizing her marriage, finds herself going head to head with some of the most powerful and deceitful players in the city. Ambitions will begin production later this year and will debut on OWN in 2019.” The series will be produced for OWN by Will Packer Media in association with Lionsgate/Debmar-Mercury
Sheila Ducksworth, head of scripted television at Will Packer Media, says a new scripted half-hour, single-camera comedy, “Bigger,” about five thirtysomethings in Atlanta, begins production in April for the Viacom family of platforms, specifically BET.

According to Screen Rant, “Fear Street” is an upcoming movie trilogy. The movie version of R.L. Stine’s “Fear Street” is reportedly geared towards teenagers. Kiana Madeira and Olivia Welcha will star in all three of the “Fear Street” films. Both will be playing teens in the 1600s and in the mid-1990s who are trying to main their relationship in the small town of Shadyside. Madeira is known for her role in “Really Me” and Welch is known for her role on “Modern Family.”
Good Eats: The Return
A revamp of the show ‘Good Eats’ which first aired on Food Network. After the show’s dormancy began, the show permanently moved to the Cooking Channel, the sister of Food Network. Alton Brown takes a scientific approach to food and educates America about the basic or complex food preparation and popular dishes and styles of cooking.
The Greenleaf family, which runs sprawling Memphis megachurch Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, appears to be a loving and caring clan. Beneath the surface, though, exists scandalous secrets and lies. Greed, adultery and sibling rivalry are among the issues that threaten to test the family’s faith and tear the group apart. The scandalous happenings are uncovered by Grace, the estranged daughter of church leader Bishop James Greenleaf, when she returns home after a 20-year absence. Oprah Winfrey has a regular role on the show as Mavis, Grace’s aunt.
The new movie will star Emma Roberts. According to Variety, “The story follows Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson, two perpetual singles who hate the holidays since their continual lack of a significant other subject them to the judgment of their family members or stuck with clingy, awkward dates. After they meet, however, they pledge to be each other’s plus-ones for each holiday celebration over the course of one year.”
Debby Ryan stars in a story about a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach takes on a vengeful, bullied teenager as his client and has no idea what he’s about to unleash upon the world.

In addition to first-person storytelling the show uses archival footage and cinematic re-enactments to bring the wartime experience to life for viewers.
