Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to star in an upcoming Warner Bros. Barbie movie.
According to The Wrap, Margot Robbie is in talks to star in a Barbie movie. Robbie will produce the film alongside Mattel president Robbie Brenner. In 2014, Mattel announced they would be partnering with Sony for a film based on the world-famous doll, and at one point, Amy Schumer was attached to star in the film. Schumer later dropped out of the project, and Anne Hathaway was cast for the project. The movie then suffered multiple release date changes and the rights went back to Mattel earlier this year.
The script for Barbie has been worked on several writers, and when Schumer was the first cast in the role, the original movie followed a Barbie doll who goes to the real world after finding she does not fit in the doll world.
Robbie is on fire with several upcoming feature films including filming Quentin Tarantinos Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, where she will star as Sharon Tate. She is also working with Warner Bros. on DCs Birds of Prey, where she will reprise her cult-classic role as Harley Quinn.
