Apple Does Not Allow iPhones to be Used by the Bad Guys in Movies

Date:

Apple won’t allow iPhones to be used by bad guys in movies.

Rian Johnson, the director behind ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ and ‘Knives Out’, revealed Apple does not allow bad guys in movies to use iPhones. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the director explained “Apple… they let you use iPhones in movies but — and this is very pivotal if you’re ever watching a mystery movie — bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera.”

He even jokes that this may ruin future mystery movies because it reveals which characters are good and bad.  “Every single filmmaker that has a bad guy in their movie that’s supposed to be a secret wants to murder me right now,” he joked.

This is important when watching ‘Knives Out’, where nearly every character is a suspect in the murder of a wealthy crime novelist.

Why?

According to MacRumors, the company stated that their products should only be used “in the best light, in a manner or context that reflects favorably on the Apple products and on Apple Inc.” A Wired article in 2002 even noted that the television show 24 had good guys using Macs and bad buys using Windows PC.
