LOS ANGELES - MAY 10: Donald Glover arrives to the "Solo: A Star Wars Story" World Premiere on May 10, 2018 in Hollywood, CA

Donald Glover is reprising his role as a young Lando Calrissian for an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ series on Disney+.

According to reports, Corey Van Dyke revealed the rumor during the Kessel Run Transmissions latest episode. He explains the series will focus on the Rebel Alliance General. However, they added they were unsure of making the announcement just in case the show was canceled before it premiered, and shared Donald Glover was open to returning to the franchise but his busy schedule may not work out with Disney.

“He’s Childish Gambino and all this stuff. And also, so they were kinda trying, they had to work with him. And we say this all the time on our show as a joke, that Brinks truck that they dumped on Donald Glover’s lawn to do this show was huge,” Co-host Noah Outlaw said.

The Lando Calrissian series will hit Disney+ if the show ever gets made. Glover portrayed Lando in the 2018 spin-off movie ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.

It is important to note, ‘Solo’ was the first ‘Star Wars’ movie to lose money. In 2018, Wall Street analysts say ‘Solo’ lost over $50 million and possibly much more. The film’s budget came in around $250 million and after a major drop in viewership in its second weekend in theaters, the movie barely made over $264.2 million. Given the film’s huge marketing budget, this means the Disney movie barely broke even. The movie’s director Ron Howard claimed that online trolls were partially to blame for the film’s underwhelming box-office performance.

In other recent news, Apple is now hiring filmmakers. Apple TV+ is spending a lot of money to produce original TV content. The tech company is creating a ton of original shows, series, and movies. Apple is said to be spending a couple of billion dollars over 2018 and 2019 on the development of exclusive original programming. Apple hopes to attract some of the biggest entertainers in TV and film production, including stars, directors, producers, and landing the TV and movie rights to best-selling books. Apple has posted dozens of casting calls and now the company is now hiring several jobs related to the film industry.
