About the Project: "The Squeaky Wheel" (TSW) is a satirical, half-hour television news format inspired by the popular website, thesqueakywheel.org. The show sheds light on the challenges that people with disabilities face in an ableist society. Presented by Canada’s top disabled writers and performers, TSW offers a unique blend of irreverent humor and social commentary that both entertains and prompts reflection. The show aims to leave audiences of all backgrounds laughing uproariously while also stirring thought-provoking conversations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform scripted roles in accordance with the show's satirical and humorous style.
• Collaborate with the production team, including the director, writers, and fellow cast members, to bring the show's vision to life.
• Attend rehearsals and read-throughs as scheduled.
• Contribute creative input and ideas to enhance character portrayal and comedic delivery.
• Adapt performances based on directorial feedback and evolving scripts.
• Maintain professionalism on and off set, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
• Work cohesively with other cast members to ensure seamless chemistry and comedic timing.
• Embrace the unique blend of social commentary and humor, delivering lines with the appropriate tone and timing.

Requirements:

• Experience in comedic acting, preferably in satirical or improv settings.
• Strong understanding of timing, delivery, and comedic techniques.
• Ability to embody characters and convey emotions effectively.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
• Open to receiving feedback and making adjustments to performances.
• Understanding of the show's themes and commitment to promoting inclusive storytelling.
• Availability for the specified shooting period and willingness to travel to Mississauga, Hamilton, and surrounding areas as needed.

Compensation:

• Pay: Competitive compensation will be provided per episode, based on experience and role.
• Travel and accommodation expenses for location shoots will be covered as necessary.
