Casting Call: Actor for the Role of Victor in "Dry Land"

Job Details: The Portland Theater Festival is seeking talent for its upcoming production of "Dry Land," a compelling drama written by Ruby Rae Spiegel. The play will be directed by Taylor Reynolds and is set to be a highlight of the Festival's 2024 summer season, which features a lineup of live, professional theater.

Role Casting For: Victor: A male character, aged 20. Victor lives somewhat in his own world, characterized by a distinct style that includes skinny pants, old shirts, and sneakers that seem slightly out of sync with the rest of his outfit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the director, cast, and crew to bring the character of Victor to life.
  • Attend all rehearsals and perform during all scheduled performances as part of the festival.
  • Participate in promotional events and media interviews as required.
  • Maintain a high level of performance consistency and professionalism throughout the run.

Requirements:

  • Proven acting skills with the ability to embody the character fully.
  • Both AEA and non-union actors are encouraged to apply.
  • Preference for local hires; however, limited housing options are available for actors residing out of town.
  • Must be available for rehearsals starting approximately two months before opening night and for all performance dates.

Compensation:

  • A stipend of $1,500 or the equivalent "Special Appearance" rate for AEA members.
  • Other benefits include potential housing accommodation for non-local actors.
