Casting Call: Extras for "THE ABANDONS" - A NETFLIX 1850s Western TV Series

Job Description: We are seeking individuals to join the cast of "THE ABANDONS," an upcoming NETFLIX Western TV series set in the 1850s. The filming will take place in Calgary and surrounding areas from May 14th to October 17th, 2024. We are looking for a diverse group of people who can portray authentic looks of the era. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a historical series and gain experience on a professional set.

Job Responsibilities:

• Represent various character archetypes relevant to the 1850s Western era, including hard-working types, blue-collar workers, blacksmiths, rancher types, butchers, upscale affluent individuals, and amputees.
• Be available for costume fittings and makeup as required.
• Take direction well from the director, assistant directors, and other production staff.
• Be prompt and professional on set at all times.
• Be able to work long hours if needed, including potential early calls or late wrap times.

Requirements:

• No acting experience required; however, the ability to follow directions and a good work ethic are essential.
• Open to all ethnicities: Caucasian, First Nations, Black, Asian & Hispanic.
• Age range from 8 to 80 years old.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Must be available for the entirety of the filming schedule, as needed.

Compensation Details:

• Pay rate is industry standard for extras and will be disclosed upon selection.
• Meals will be provided on filming days.
• No compensation for travel or accommodation is mentioned, so local applicants may be preferred.
