Lane Bryant's new commercial featuring plus-sized models was rejected by multiple TV networks. A commercial starring Ashley Graham and other plus-sized models had allegedly been rejected by two major TV networks. Plus size clothing chain Lane Bryant has shot a commercial starring Ashley, who recently featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and a team of other models embracing their curves while dressed in lingerie. But according to TMZ, the ad was banned by both ABC and NBC. The commercial, which is part of Lane Bryant's This Body campaign, shows size 14 models sharing positive words about their bodies. The group start off by saying the line "this body" in turn as the camera pans over close-ups of their curves. The girls then say that they love their bodies, with Ashley seen kick boxing in a sports bra and shorts saying: 'This body is made for being bold, powerful and sexy.' Sources connected to Lane Bryant have told TMZ that the advert was rejected by ABC and NBC. The site writes that neither network 'provided specifics about what crossed the line ... other than to say they were turning it down "as is."' TMZ goes on to claim that their sources believe the rejection of the commercial is down to a "size issue and not nudity," pointing out that Victoria's Secret commercials, and others featuring thinner models, are currently airing. Here's Why Sports Illustrated First Plus-Sized Swimsuit model is so important. Earlier this week it was announced that Ashley Graham, will be Sports Illustrated first plus-sized swimsuit. Ashley Graham, 27, just became the first plus-size model to be featured for an ad in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit edition. The issue will hit stands February 9th. “I think that you can be healthy at any size and my goal is to help and educate women on that,” she wrote. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 2 or 22 as long as you’re taking care of your body, working out, and telling yourself, ‘I love you’ instead of taking in the negativity of beauty standards.” -Ashley Graham Graham, who wears a size 16, has always embraced her curves, appearing in ads for Lane Bryant and Addition Elle, a plus-sized lingerie retailer. In 2012, she was named the Full Figured Fashion Week’s Model of the Year. “I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too. There is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt.” In a world where most models are 6'0 tall and 90 pounds, Ashley Graham is changing the game. Plus-Size Models are making progress in the modeling industry. More plus-size models are becoming higher profile and are getting more jobs than ever before. The latest report from DNA Info spoke with the organization ALDA. ALDA an organization that promotes size diversity in modeling. Members of the organization, a group of plus-size models, all signed with IMG a few months ago, and they said that there are more opportunities for them than ever before. "I have literally gone on more castings in five months then in the last 10 years of my career," model Ashley Graham said. There is an increase in plus-size models. Demand for clothing size 14 and up increased 7 percent in the past 12 months, totaling $17.6 billion in sales, according to the market researching company the NPD Group. But, a major change may come from the talent agencies, not from the fashion designers.  But as agencies push their plus-size models for jobs normally reserved for straight-size gals, fashion designers will be pressured to use them, according to Catherine Schuller, a former plus-size model who now runs fashion events that promote diversity. But, plus-size modeling is not new. There has been a push for these type of models for several years now. The difference now is there is less attention given to smaller sized models. It is no longer a big story when a smaller sized model lands an opportunity to do high fashion for a major brand. Nowadays, when a plus-size model lands a job, it makes headline news and for good reasons too. They are breaking stereotypes and common industry standards. But, before you jump to conclusion and think that the fashion world will be dominated by plus-size models, you must keep in mind that a plus-size model is not an average size person. Plus-size models are still "models" and conventional fashion models are usually thin. Plus-size models are women that are just larger than their size double-zero counterparts. Some of these models will not be found shopping at Lane Bryant stores. What do you think is considered a plus-size model? Plus Size Model Casting Call – Lane Bryant Stores Full Figured Fashion Week is currently holding a model casting tour and they are looking for plus size models! Lane Bryant stores will be holding a nationwide plus size model casting for models to appear in fashion week this coming spring 2013! The search is on for plus size gals to strut their stuff down the cat walk in Full Figured Fashion Week to be held in New York City, produced by DeVoe. The full figured fashion event has been held annually since 2009 and caters to the multi-billion dollar plus size clothing market. Are you a plus size lady who has always wanted a chance to strut down the catwalk in fabulous clothes? Well her is your chance to audition to be a plus size model. Casting calls and model tryouts are taking place from now through March in cities all over the U.S. – The events are open to anyone who fits the requirements. The requirements to model are as follows: Models must be a plus size 14 to 20 Models must be at least 5’8?, without shoes, however the casting directors may consider shorter models if they look stunning on the runway If planning on attending the plus size model casting please be sure to come prepared with either a comp card or 2 photos (face and full body). Make sure the photos are sharp and there are no props or obstructions (sunglasses, hats, etc.) Please be sure to bring only current photos that show you exactly as you are now. Photos over a year old will not be considered. The comp cards and photos will be left with the casting directors and will not be returned. Make sure to wear flattering, form fitting clothes that show off your natural curves and wear a 3 to 4 inch heal that has a closed toe and heel (No sandals, slingbacks, boots, platforms, etc.). Wear shoes and clothes that you will be comfortable walking in since models will be required to walk for the casting directors. Please come with your hair and makeup already done.
