Bryan Cranston explains in that he stopped considering an audition as a job interview but a performance. Basically instead of trying to get something from  he is giving something to producers.

If you are too earnest, you'll seem too desperate and won't attract the . You need to act like you have something to give and know that if it's coming from a genuine place, it's gonna be amazing.
