Fox’s ‘The Resident’ Donates Masks to Atlanta Hospitals to Fight the Coronavirus

Georgia-filmed Fox , ‘The Resident‘ donated boxes of production masks, gloves, and gowns to Grady Hospital in Atlanta for their medical staff during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Karen Law, a rheumatologist at Grady Memorial Hospital, thanked the production for the donation on Instagram.

“To the entire team @theresidentonfox, thank you for this incredibly generous donation of #PPE from your set, including gowns, masks, gloves, and all the things our healthcare workers need to provide safe care for our during #COVID19,” she wrote. “Yesterday, I had a serious discussion with the residents about how, though supplies are low, a magical shipment of masks is unlikely to arrive. And yet, a magical shipment of masks DID arrive, in the form of this very generous gesture. This kind of community support means so much to our #frontlineproviders who are making many sacrifices to staff our hospitals and care for our community.”

‘The Resident' films in and is among many TV shows and movies that are shut down while the world tries to self-distance and contain COVID-19.

ABC's ‘The Good Doctor' plans to donate its gear in Vancouver. Meanwhile, Los Angeles filmed ‘Grey's Anatomy' -off ‘Station 19' has donated their N95 masks to the City of Ontario Fire Department.

Hospitals across America are facing a shortage of critical medical equipment as the coronavirus continues to spread. Due to the shortage of medical equipment, officials are advocating to not purchase masks so there are more available for healthcare providers.

In related Coronavirus news, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, nearly 120,000 below-the-line entertainment industry jobs have been lost.

As Variety reported,  80% of the 150,000 members of the Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Leaders of the International Cinematographers Guild that has about 9,000 members and works as IATSE Local 600 addressed the loss of jobs report in a message to members as part of its most recent weekly newsletter.
