The NWA Biopic finally Casts it's Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, and Ice Cube
Two relative unknown actors are going to take on one of the biggest hip hop movies in recent history.
After five years, several writers, and a picky group of writers, Universal's N.W.A. biopic
Straight Outta Compton is finally being made.
There were several
open casting calls in
Los Angeles, Chicago, Altanta and in
New York. Now, according to
The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has found actors to tackle the roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Drea and the late Eazy-E.
It is interesting to note that all of the actors had to be approved by the parties they were representing.
Ice Cube's son,
O'Shea Jackson Jr. was selected to play a teen version of his father, after
Ice Cube pushed to have his son picked.
But, classically trained actor who is said to who have on the role of
Dre, is
Marcus Callender. he is a alum of New York's Shakespeare Lab at the Public Training theater. Callendar has appeared on an
HBO TV pilot,
Criminal Justice, and had small parts on the
CBS series
Blue Bloods and
Elementary.
But, what is the biggest surprise is the actor who was selected to play
Eazy-E.
Jason Mitchell landed the role after having an amazing audition. The New Orleans based actor, has had very small roles on
Broken City and
Contraband.
