Stephen Colbert Donates $800,000 to Support Teachers and Schools

South Carolina just made a ton of South Carolina teachers and students very happy. Days before “Teacher Appreciation Week,” the comedian made a live announcement at a surprise event on Thursday, stating that he plans to fund every existing grant request S.C. public school teeachers have made on the non-profit education crowdfunding site DonorsChoose.org

These grants will be funding everything from classroom supplies, school uniforms to teach development and new books. His partnership with DonorsChoose will fund around 1,000 projects for over 800 teachers and about 375 South Carolina schools which brings the total to $800,000.
