Game of Thrones was created for HBO by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It is based on the George R. R. Martin fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones


Currently, Game of Thrones is filmed in a Belfast studio and several locations across Northern Ireland, Malta, Scotland, Croatia, Iceland, the United States, Spain and Morocco.

The series, set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos at the end of a decade-long summer, interweaves several plot lines seen through the eyes of a broad ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a civil war among several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North; the third follows the attempts of  the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty to reclaim the throne.

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is one of the most watched shows on Television and has an international fan base. It has received widespread acclaim by critics. The series has won numerous awards and nominations, including Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for its first four seasons, a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series – Drama, a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in both Long Form and Short Form, and a Peabody Award.

Game of Thrones cast is also award-winning. Peter Dinklage won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Tyrion Lannister.


As of April 8, 2014, six seasons have been ordered and four have been filmed. Due to the popularity of the Game of Thrones, producers have kept a tight lid on extras casting call opportunities as well as speaking roles.
