12 Year Old Girl Commits Suicide on Facebook Live

Live is seen as a new and interactive way to connect with people in real-time. It gives people tools to show an unfiltered picture of what is going on in the world around them. But what happens when Facebook Live becomes too revealing? We have already seen the death of Philando Castile replayed millions of times after being shot by on Facebook Live. Then a base jumper also live streamed his death and now on Thursday, another tragic story has gone viral.

According to the Daily Mail, 12-year-old Katelyn Nicole Davis from Cedartown, used Facebook Live on December 30th to reveal that she had been sexually assaulted by a relative. She then kept live streaming as she hanged herself in her front yard, with the playing for an entire 20 minutes. A woman's voice could also be heard off-screen calling Katelyn's name during the live-stream.

The video has since gone viral. It was later removed from Katelyn's Facebook page, but Polk County Chief Kenny Dodd told Fox 5 that his department was “contacted by a police officer from California who saw it the night of the event.”

Since then, the police department is searching the Internet to track down and remove the video. However, by the time it ended up on it had over 40,000 views before being removed.

Katelyn, who used the fake name “Dolly” on her blog. She talked about being sexually abused on December 27th. She reportedly wrote about being beaten with a belt and claimed that a member tried to her. In addition, the Daily Mail also reports that Katelyn wrote about how the relative told her to kill her after she asked him to “stop being so perverted in front of my younger siblings.”

Police are still investigating this situation.
