‘Duke Nukem’ Movie is Coming Soon with Cobra Kai Production Team

Date:

Duke Nukem is finally getting his movie debut due.

To the uninitiated, Duke is an iconic antihero, modeled after 1980s stereotypical action stars. He fights aliens who have invaded Los Angeles and travels across town to moon bases or spaceships while dealing with LAPD officers who, in turn, mutate after alien encounters.

After three decades as a video game cult classic, the coming of the long-awaited Duke Nukem movie has been announced by none other than Jon Hurwitz- the same production brains behind Netflix’s Cobra Kai. Joining Hurwitz in bringing Duke Nukem to the big screen are Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg, who are also Cobra Kai producers.

The latest adaptation will land at Universal Studios next summer and takes us back into Duke’s world after a hiatus since 2008 when they released Aliens versus Predator II.

The film is currently searching for a writer and director, and it was announced four years ago that John Cena would be playing Duke (a plan that has yet to push through); fans are eagerly speculating on who will land the title role.

With Cobra Kai’s recent success behind them, the producers of Duke Nukem are ready to take on a new venture. There may not be a better trio to promote a revival of an 80’s classic like Duke Nukem; after all, Cobra Kai is also a revival of the 80’s hit, The Karate Kid.

Let’s hope that lady luck is on their side for the second time.
