Update: June 27, 2020: Showtime’s ‘Rust’ is on production hold until possibly Fall 2020.

Earlier this week casting company Movie Casting PGH posted on Facebook production for Showtime’s ‘Rust’ is on hold indefinitely. “It has been a minute, so I wanted to stop by and let you all know that the likelihood of “Rust” starting up again before August or the Fall is unlikely,” the social media post reads. The casting company adds, “I promise to keep you updated on everything we hear. Try not to read into every news article or all of the “what productions are doing to restart” with a fine tooth comb. Everything is evolving and changing and not every show may be the same – especially the ones out of state or other countries. Whenever a green light is presented and things are on the move, we will be sure to pass along the safety precautions and protocols that each production plans to utilize. Until then, enjoy some sunshine and the summer!”

Showtime casting directors for ‘Rust’ are now hiring actors, models, and talent to work on scenes filming this March 2020 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Producers are looking for a wide arrange of background actors to work on the show. About Rust: According to Deadline, ‘Rust’ is executive produced and stars Jeff Daniels. Deadline describes the series as follows: “Rust is a compelling family drama that will explore the tattered American dream through the eyes of complicated and compromised chief of police Del Harris (Daniels) in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania. When the woman he truly loves sees her son accused of murder, Harris is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him.” “Jeff Daniels is a bona fide giant on stage and screen, and Dan Futterman is a special writer and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them together at Showtime,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment Showtime Networks. “With vibrant characters caught in an unpredictable murder mystery, Rust will tell the relevant and touching human story of the corrosion of the American dream.”
