Brian Jordan Alvarez’s ‘English Teacher’ is one of FX Orders Comedy Pilot.
Brian Jordan Alvarez has written a comedy pilot for FX. The program is called “English Teacher.” Alvarez will play Evan, a gay high school English teacher in Austin, TX, attempting to maintain order among his fellow instructors as they try to balance the students’ demands with their parents in an ever-changing environment. Alvarez wrote the pilot and will executive produce alongside starring. Simms is also linked to executive production.

Alvarez has been in many successful shows such as “Jane the Virgin,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Get Shorty,” and the new season of “Will & Grace.” He is also the star and creator of the YouTube sitcom “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo.”
He is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Ziffren Brittenham LLP.
This is Simms’ most recent project with FX in recent years. He’s currently an executive producer on the FX hit comedy “Atlanta” and the showrunner of “What We Do in the Shadows,” which he also executive produces and directs. Later this year, FX’s “Atlanta” will premiere its fourth season, while “What We Do in the Shadows” will return for its fourth season in June. Simms has worked on series including “The Larry Sanders Show,” “NewsRadio,” “Divorce,” and “Girls.”
FX has ordered a few pilots in recent months. Lauren Ludwig’s untitled comedy pilot was the most recent example of this.
