Vin Diesel confirms development of ‘Fast & Furious’ Spinoffs

Following the recent premiere of Fast X, Vin Diesel is already looking ahead to new ventures within the Fast & Furious franchise. The renowned actor confirmed to Variety that spinoffs featuring various characters from the series are already in progress, with one set to be led by a female protagonist. Diesel expressed, “As early as 2017, I began working on developing the female-centric spinoff, along with other spinoff ideas. The sooner I finalize the current installment, the quicker I can introduce all these exciting spinoffs.”

Fast X is merely the first part of a two-project culmination. Viewers who have already seen the film were treated to the return of some random characters. In an interview in Rome earlier this May, Diesel hinted that the finale might span three films. He explained, “Consider the number of characters and our incredible talent in the movie. I couldn’t do justice to all of them in just a few seconds. These characters have captured the audience’s interest, and there is a demand to see more of them.”

The tenth installment pleasantly surprised fans with the reprisal of Gal Gadot as Gisel and Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs. Diesel shared his excitement about keeping these cameos a secret: “I’m thrilled to have them back on board, and I’m especially eager to witness the fans’ reactions and see how it brings joy to people.” Diesel also revealed, “We had previously filmed other scenes that didn’t quite fit into that specific movie as a finale. Incorporating additional scenes can be challenging since you want to feature your exceptional talent while ensuring that the audience’s emotional state is maintained at the end of the film. It’s a delicate balance.” Although a female-led spinoff seems set in stone, Michelle Rodriguez remains uncertain about her involvement in the spinoffs, remarking, “You pass the baton and take the back seat.”

The release dates for these spinoffs have yet to be announced.
