Disney to Close Its ‘Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’ Experience

Date:

Disney has made the decision to bring an end to its highly anticipated “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” experience.

The management of the Star Wars franchise by Disney has been met with extensive criticism, whether it relates to the execution of the Sequel Trilogy or the commercialization of the beloved universe. Although the idea of an immersive Star Wars adventure hosted by Disney was a dream come true for many, the high price point prevented numerous fans from participating.

Disney recently announced that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will cease operations in September of this year, less than two years after its launch. While details surrounding this decision remain limited, the main issue is evident – despite having a vast and dedicated fan base, the number of visitors willing to pay for the experience has been insufficient. Understandably, the cost of the adventure, amounting to over $4,800 USD per cabin for a two-night stay, deterred numerous potential guests. Although the Galactic Starcruiser has been praised as a magical and captivating journey, its appeal seems to have been too specific, making it challenging to maintain long-term profitability. Disney has not disclosed any plans to repurpose the 100-room hotel for a new venture.

For those eager to embark on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience before its closure, new bookings will reopen on May 26. The final voyage is scheduled to take place from September 28 to September 30 of this year. Individuals who had reservations for dates beyond this period will be contacted by Disney to discuss options and make necessary modifications.

In unrelated news from the entertainment industry, the Hypebeast team has compiled a comprehensive list of upcoming content coming to HBO Max, which will soon be rebranded as simply Max. Noteworthy entries include the film “The Idol” and the highly anticipated series finales of “Succession” and “Barry.”
