Tom Hanks is an actor, producer, writer, comedian, and director. He is best known for his roles in Big, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, You’ve Got Mail, The Green Mile, Cast Away, The Da Vinci Code, Captain Phillips, and Saving Mr. Banks.
Tom Hanks has earned numerous awards during his career, including winning a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Philadelphia, as well as a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a People’s Choice Award for Best Actor for his role in Forrest Gump.
Before he received several nominations and awards for Forrest Gump, Hanks had to audition for the role that would eventually make his career.

Here’s a video of Tom Hanks auditioning and screen testing for the lead role in the academy award winning movie, “Forrest Gump” (1994). Included in this reel is actress Robin Wright, who plays the supporting role of ‘Jenny‘ in the film.
