Is it rude to ask a casting director why you didn’t get the role?

After several auditions and not getting a call back or role you may want to ask the casting director why? So, at the end of the day is it rude/awkward to ask a director why you didn’t get a role?

Basically, yes. At the end of the day there’s not much a casting director can tell you. Most of the time the casting director will tell you something that is out of your control. For instance, “I would have cast you, if you were taller than the girl I already have as the lead.”

It would be amazing if we could get consistent, honest, and personal feedback from casting directors. Because it’s frustrating and impossible to figure out why you’re not get getting a role. After several auditions, you may feel that there may be something deeply wrong with you since no one will tell you why you are getting rejected.

Just keep focused on working your craft. Many actors may look like overnight success stories but a large majority have worked years on several different productions, movies, and commercials before becoming the A-list actor that we know today.
