This Actor With Autism is One Actor You Should See Before You Die (VIDEO)

Acting is tough. You have to memorize lines, understand the physical choreography for a scene, and continue to network outside of the stage. Now, imagine doing all of this with a disability.

Autism spectrum disorder affects the nervous system. The range and severity of the disease can vary. Common symptoms include difficulty with communication, social interactions, obsessive interests and repetitive behaviors.

In a video by Great Big Story, star of the professional production “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” is making history as the first actor with autism cast in the play’s lead. This is huge. Rowe is taking on the role of Christopher Boone, a character who demonstrates autistic behaviors. Rowe’s goal is changing the narrative that actors with disabilities can still do the job and perhaps open the doors for other actors with autism.
