Why ‘The Bastard Executioner’ Was Cancelled After Only 1 Season

FX Networks has just pulled the plug on The Bastard Executioner.

According to TheWrap, Kurt Sutter’s The Bastard Executioner was just axed by FX after only one season.

The writer’s Sons of Anarchy follow-up never really connected with audiences and received bad reviews and ratings.

Sutter opened up about the recent cancellation saying: “The audience has spoken and unfortunately the word is ‘meh,’” he wrote. “So with due respect, we bring our mythology to an epic and fiery close.”

“The numbers just didn’t sustain the cost of the show, quite frankly,” Sutter said. “It’s all math at the end of the day. We couldn’t establish that core audience that allows you to figure out your advertising paradigm and whether or not the show is affordable.”

The show opened with pretty high ratings two moths ago but declined rapidly with each of its 10 episodes. It went from 4.02 million viewers for its premiere to only 1.9 million viewers for episode six.
