Varsity Blues the TV series is headed to CMT.

Another day, another reboot. CMT is currently working on a Varsity Blues TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CMT is planning on rebooting the James Van Der Beek high school football series for the CMT network.

The original movie starred Dawson’s Creek actor Van Der Beek as Jonathan Moxon, a back-up quarterback who takes over a team of oddballs against an abusive coach – his father who only cares about football.

The original Varsity Blues movie earned $54.3 million on a budget of $16 million and was a box office hit.

This news comes after CMT comes as the network recently rescued ABC’s Nashville from cancellation and CMT recently renewed the scripted series by Miley Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Still The King.

Meanwhile, many other networks are rebooting classics. For example, CBS is currently filming in Atlanta a rebooted version of MacGyverIn Chicago, Fox is rebooting the classic horror franchise The Exorcist and production for 24: Legacy is about to start ramping up in Atlanta in the next few weeks.
