Another Major TV and Movie Studio is Headed to Atlanta

Another major movie and TV studio is headed to Atlanta, Georgia.

According to reports, developers announced that the former General Motors Doraville Assembly Plant will be transformed into film and TV studios, offices, retail, restaurants and more.

From Curbed:

The first phase of a new production complex called “Third Rail Studios” — a nod to the rail lines that served the shuttered GM Plant — is expected to open as early as the fourth quarter of this year, marking the first studios of this magnitude inside the Perimeter, officials said. Adaptive-reuse fans will be pleased to know this initial phase involves the conversion of an existing 130,000-square-foot factory building into sound stages, administrative offices, vendor spaces and mill shops to support production.

The movie studio will be placed in the “yards district” which is in a perfect location because the MARTA train station is located across the street making it easily accessible for aspiring actors, filmmakers, and producers living in the city of Atlanta.

This is the latest movie studio to open in Atlanta. Recently, Pinewood Studios announced they will be expanding their movie studio, Tyler Perry is in talks to purchase a former fort and turn it into a movie studio, and Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta opened their doors earlier this year.

Expect Georgia’s film industry to continue to grow.
