Third Rail Studios, a major new studio will open in Atlanta this summer.
Atlanta’s film industry is booming. Every week there is a new movie studio, casting call, and production notice released in the ATL. Now, according to Biz Journals, a major new movie studio is going to open their doors this summer in the Peach State.
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Third Rail Studios will officially be open for business starting the end of August. This new studio is part of the Doraville’s General Motors plant redevelopment.
According to their website, Third Rail Studios will be “Georgia’s newest film and television production studio, located less than 15 miles north of Midtown Atlanta in the creative community known as the Yards District of Assembly, the site of the historic former General Motors assembly plant.”
The new facility will feature 130,000 square feet building to accommodate 60,000 square feet of sound stages, 27,000 square feet of production support plus 38,000 square feet of mill space, onsite production vendor spaces and up to 30 acres of paved backlot.  Third Rail Studios can provide up to 30 Gigabits of fiber optic bandwidth for high speed data transfer.
This new studio is all part of the redevelopment of the former General Motors plant. The now defunct facility plans on creating dining, housing, entertainment, parks, art, retail, manufacturing and new businesses at the former General Motors plant and this new studio is just one of the many projects built for that area.
