Thousands try to buy ticket for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ crashing several websites.

After years of anticipation, hundreds of open casting calls, months of filming, and thousands of dollars in marketing, Disney and LucasFilm started selling their first set of tickets online ahead of the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens release date. Hundreds of Star Wars fans immediately rushed online to buy movie tickets but, the sudden rush of traffic caused lauding issues and website crashes on Fandango, the Alamo Drafthouse and AMC Theaters.

According to Deadline, Fandango was the most affected website. In fact, many people were unable to purchase tickets without the website crashing.

Despite this being a major issue for Fandango and AMC Theaters, it is a huge victory for Disney and LucasFilm, illustrating the strong demand for more Star Wars movies. This type of demand ensures that the new Star Wars movie will be a Box Office hit with experts predicting a record-smashing $615 worldwide opening for the film.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was co-written and directed by JJ Abrams and takes place 30 years after ‘Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi,” when the rebels crushed the Galactic Empire. While audiences will see some of their favorite actors return to their iconic roles, a new wave of villains and heroes are expected to appear in the new feature film.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens” features Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Pip Anderson.
