Netflix Unveils “Squid Game: The Challenge” Trailer, Showcasing 456 Contestants Vying for $4.56 Million Prize.

Netflix has dropped the highly-anticipated trailer for their forthcoming reality series inspired by “Squid Game,” revealing a premiere date of November 22. This announcement was first made during their Tudu fan event earlier this summer.

In “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a global roster of 456 participants will engage in a series of challenges drawing inspiration from the original Korean game show while introducing new elements. The ultimate victor will walk away with a staggering $4.56 million prize money.

While the stakes aren’t as dire as in the fictional version of “Squid Game,” the logline emphasizes that there’s still a tremendous amount at risk. “456 players will compete to win $4.56 million, the largest cash prize in reality television history. Through games, each player will be pushed to their limits and forced to ask themselves how far they’ll go to win, with opportunistic alliances, cutthroat strategies, and timely betrayals to follow.”

Regrettably, the production has faced its share of controversy after contestants required medical attention during filming, which took place unexpectedly during a cold spell in the U.K. As reported by Variety, several contestants who were not reimbursed for their participation experienced collapses on set due to a combination of cold weather and fatigue.

Studio Lambert helms the show, the same production company behind the popular game show “The Traitors,” in collaboration with The Garden.
