Selena Gomez doesn’t want people to feel bad for her because of being diagnosed with Lupus.

Selena Gomez may have revealed that she’s battling Lupus, but she doesn’t want anyone’s pity, according to reports.

She told the world of her secret battle with Lupus last week, but according to HollywoodLife, Selena Gomez, doesn’t want anyone to “feel sorry for her,” In fact, the singer/actor revealed that she is hoping that by speaking about the disease, she will be able to help others who suffer with debilitating symptoms as well.

“Selena is relieved to have finally got her secret battle with lupus off her chest,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She hopes by bringing more light to the disease, she’ll be able to help others identify the symptoms that are associated with it. And that even someone as famous as her can get struck down with something so unfortunate.”

Selena Gomez is currently promoting her new album and she gave a pretty open interview with Billboard, where she made the revelation of her fight with Lupus, admitting she could have died from a stroke and was forced to undergo chemotherapy. And it’s something she’s happy to have done now.

Despite battling the illness that can lead to aching joints, fatigue and several other symptoms, Selena doesn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her.

“Selena also doesn’t want any special dispensation because of her Lupus disease,” the source continued. “She wants to carry on like as if nothing happened, and doesn’t want people to feel sorry for her. She’s incredibly tough, and is handling it all so well. Selena still wants to live independently and not have to rely on anyone to help her through this.”

It sounds like Selena Gomez is not letting anything hold her back.
