Antoine Fuqua is in talks to direct Scarface reboot.

Are you ready for a new Scarface movie? If so, then I have great news for you. According to recent reports, Antoine Fuqua, the director of Training Day and the upcoming feature film Magnificent Seven, is in talks to direct a Scarface reboot.

According to TheWrap, the new Scarface movie will be set in Los Angeles. It will be based on the original 1932 film starring Paul Muni, which took place in Chicago and the 1983 classic featuring Al Pacino as Tony Montana that chronicled the Miami cocaine trade.

The new Scarface movie will follow in the footsteps of the previous movies and center around a rags-to-riches story but, set in Los Angeles, California.

The 1983 “Scarface”, in which Al Pacino plays a Cuban refugee who becomes a drug kingpin, has become an American classic found in hip hop records to Wal-Mart posters.

According to previous reports the filmmakers plan to cast an authentic Latino who is bilingual and bicultural as the lead character. It is also reported that producers are open to casting a complete unknown actor in order to keep the movie authentic.

This movie has been in development for at least a couple of years. According to TheWrap, Jonathan Herman wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, with earlier script revisions written by Paul Attanasio and David Ayer.
