Sarah Paulson becomes addicted to smoking after playing a TV character.

Sarah Paulson is killing it in the hit FX series, People v. OJ Simpson playing city attorney Marcia Clark. However, according to a report by Page Six, the acting job may literally be killing her.

The actress revealed on The Late Show Thursday, she got hooked on cigarettes while playing chain-smoking attorney Marcia Clark on American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

“I don’t smoke at all in life,” Paulson, 41, revealed. “When we first started, I was coughing a lot. And then eventually I started to be like … ready for a smoke.”

Paulson added, “I was like, ‘Hey, hey,!’ I got me a little crazy for ciggies,” she explained. “I also smoke in ‘American Horror Story’ and I was shooting them at the same time so it was a real situation.”

Paulson also revealed that not only was the cigarettes a problem for her on set, she also had problems with Marcia Clark’s hair.

“I mean her hair is horrible … She knew it was horrible. The first time I met her, she said, ‘I want to apologize for the hair,’” Paulson said for the web series “IMDB Asks.”

“That’s the first thing she said to me, and I was like, ‘I really love you already,’ and she knew it was bad but, you know, look, she was trying to put a man she believed to be guilty of murdering two innocent people behind bars . . . so what she looked like was really ancillary to the task at hand,” Paulson continued.
