Why ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is Filming Reshoots

Here’s the reason why Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is filming reshoots.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Disney executives were not too happy with the first cut of the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story movie and Disney has decided to film major reshoots for the feature film. According to reports, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and other sources reveal why they are filming reshoots, which comes down to the tone of the movie and a new potential cameo.

According to reports, Disney executives thought the Rogue One movie was “lacking the edge that Force Awakens had,” and was “tonally off with what a ‘classic’ Star Wars movie should feel like.” Sources told The Hollywood Reporter the current cut of Rogue One feels like a “war movie” and Disney is attempting to reacher a wider audience.

The goal of the reshoots will be to lighten the mood, bring some levity into the story and restore a sense of fun to the adventure. […]

“This is the closest thing to a prequel ever,” a source tells THR. “This takes place just before A New Hope and leads up to the 10 minutes before that classic film begins. You have to match the tone!”

And the movie reshoots will add a cameo by Alden Ehrenreich, who is going to play the new and younger version of Han Solo.
