Rihanna donates millions of dollars to help other countries against the spread of the Coronavirus.

According to TMZ, Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has made a huge donation to organizations across the United States and around the world. The Foundation has donated $5 million in aid to help local food banks serving at-risk populations in the United States, medical equipment to physicians and nurses, and speed up the distribution of testing kits to Haiti and Malawi. The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, announced the singer donated $1.4 million to the country to purchase ventilators.

A portion of the money donated by Rihanna’s foundation will provide equipment such as protective gear, maintenance of ICU units, the development of vaccine development, and the distribution of ventilators. Justine Lucas, Executive Director of the Clara Lionel Foundation, said the donation is urgent: “Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities — those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic.”

In other related news, the Entertainment Industry Fund creates a COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund. The Entertainment Industry fund says the money will provide relief for those who work in the entertainment industry who are most vulnerable and affected by the looming economic crisis. Funds will support public health response to the threat posed by this virus including the prevention and treatment of new cases of Coronavirus.
