Report: Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ is No Longer Going to Film in New Orleans

Gambit recently lost another director and while it is believed that Fox is still moving forward with the upcoming X-Men spinoff, a new report suggests the studio is no longer considering moving forward with the Channing Tatum sequel.

Gambit was supposed to be released in October 2016 but after director Gore Verbinski walked away from the movie over “scheduling issues”, its current release date has been moved from February 2019 to June 2019. It was previously revealed that filming would begin on March 19th in New Orleans, Louisiana. But, Fox is reportedly looking for someone else to take charge of the spin off, which is forcing the studio to pull the movie from the studio’s schedule.

CBM reports that filming will take place this summer in Montreal, Quebec, teh same city X-Men: Apocalypse was shot in. Whether or not Gambit will film in New Orleans remains unclear.

Channing Tatum is still attached to star and it’s been described as a heist movie which heavily relies on comedy. While there’s a very good chance Gambit will be a hit, we should probably forget about seeing a sequel as the Disney/Fox deal will lead to the X-Men characters presumably being rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
