According to Nola.com, Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi virtual reality feature film is planning to start shooting in Louisiana as soon as 2016.

According to reports, the movie will be directed by Spielberg for Warner Bros. through his Amblin Entertainment production company. Producers are planning to start filming as soon as July 2016 and eight days of filming in late September inside of Louisiana. According to the report, Hollywood plans on spending millions for only 8 days of filming in Louisiana:

According to the production’s Louisiana filing, dated Tuesday (Dec. 22), the film’s eight-day Bayou State shoot will see it spend an estimated $13.6 million in-state. Some $7.2 million of that is expected to go toward payroll on 343 temporary in-state jobs.

It’s unclear where in Louisiana production will take place.

Ready Player One is based on Ernest Cline’s novel in which a large percentage of the world live their lives in a virtual reality platform known as OASIS. The movie follows the journey of a teenager who puts his gaming skills to use in a treasure hunt designed by a Silicon Valley type billionaire. When he wins the game, Wade learns that there are others willing to kill him to learn what he knows.
