The 2016 Golden Globe Awards ratings are in and they don’t look too good.

Despite Jennifer Lawrence’s heartwarming acceptance speech, Taraji P. Henson’s cookies, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s now infamous Lady Gaga reaction, ratings for the Golden Globes have dropped 4% in comparison to last year.

According to Variety, the Golden Globes have joined other major award shows over the past years to have ratings declines.

According to Nielsen estimates, the “73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards” on NBC averaged a 5.5 rating in the key demographic and 18.5 million viewers. Which is down 5% in the key demographic and 4% in total viewers from last year’s 19.31 million

However, it was a good night for Ricky Gervais whose ratings did increase 10% since his last hosting gig in 2012.

But, it’s interesting to point out that people are not really interested in award shows any more as ratings for the Oscars, Grammys, Primetime Emmys and Tonys have all decreased in comparison to last year. The only award show that has done well is the Country Music Awards on CBS.

However, on social media people tweeted 1.7 million times about the “73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards” on Sunday. Tweets were seen a total of 298.8 million times. The most tweeted celebrities according to Amobee Brand Intelligence were Lady Gaga, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
