Rambo Reboot is Now Casting Lead Roles

Sylvester Stallone’s box office hit movie Rambo is returning to the big screen.

Titled Rambo: New Blood, the new reboot would not see Stallone return as the action hero, like he did in the 2008 feature film, but would see a younger actor inhabit the role. The company is looking to reboot the Rambo series as a character similar to James Bond, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This means casting directors are now casting for the lead role in the new Rambo movie.

Rambo was based on the 1972 novel by David Morrell titled First Blood. The book was turned into a movie by the 1980s and starred Stallone in a story that focused on the problems caused by the Vietnam War.

When the series returned in 1985, Rambo: First Blood Part II, it was co-written by James Cameron and turned the movie into a pure revenge action thriller. Stallone was on fire. The movie was a box office hit and the character became a pop culture phenomenon.

Currently, there are no plot details given for the new movie as it is still in early development. The movie will be directed by Ariel Vromen and written by Brooks McLaren.

This news comes after Stallone revealed that he never wanted to play the character again.

“You know when you realize there’s nothing more to pull out?” Stallone says. “As an action film, I was very satisfied that it dealt with the Burmese situation. It had one foot in a current event, the longest civil war in history, 65 years at that time. It was so brutal, which civil war is, I was shocked they even gave me an R-rating. I didn’t want to compromise. I said, ‘This is probably going to be the last decent film of this genre that I’m going to do as a solo act.’ When that was accomplished, I never felt the same willingness to do it again.”
