SNL Bashes Donald Trump Supporters with ‘Racists for Trump’

SNL pokes fun at Donald Trump supporters with a parody Donald Trump campaign commercial.

Sometimes parody is too realistic to be funny. Too accurate and terrifying and scary to make you laugh. Well this week’s Saturday Night Live may have crossed that line.

Saturday Night Live cold open started off with “racists love me”.

“I really am running the best campaign, aren’t I?” says Darrell Hammond as Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. “The media is saying they haven’t seen anything like this since Germany in the 1930s.”

But, Saturday Night Live didn’t stop there. Later on in the evening, Saturday Night Live had a commercial parody “Racisits for Trump” that starts off innocently enough – aerial shots of America, a friendly voice saying the media has been saying awful stuff about Trump.

Then we meet some real Americans played by Vanessa Bayer, Kyle Mooney and Bobby Moynihan. A woman ironing, a painter, and a man gathering firewood. They say they have a lot of reasons for supporting Trump, but really they just have one:

They’re “Racists for Trump.”

“I don’t know what it is, I just like the guy,” says the guy who just painted “White Power” on a building.

“Some of his ideas seem a little out there, but I like that he’s looking toward solutions,” says the woman who has mapped the world according to its “secret Muslims.”

And this, finally, from the firewood-carrier at a KKK cross-burning: “Why do I support Trump? Three words: Good. At. Business.”

It’s that central focus on SNL this week that people will be talking about. The sketch show joked about the appeal of the Republican presidential frontrunner on this weekend’s episode, by tossing a bunch of their cast in a fake campaign ad, where between their daily racist lives they talked about Trump’s “winning” style.

Donald Trump has recently faced a ton of controversy for the way he disavowed an endorsement from David Duke, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. And a January study showed that 20 percent of supporters did not support the freeing of slaves.
